The journey of that new shirt…

Every outfit we buy has a journey. We don’t tend to think about it, the out of sight out of might mentality allows for us to continue the cycle of consumption. This cycle has devastating consequences on our environment and all we see is the journey from purchase ,to when it ends up at the Goodwill.

It sometimes begins as a way to connect with a friend while out shopping
Only to add it to the collection of items we already have, and resemble all the others.
To be tossed aside carelessly as if they did not matter at all.
It ends back at a store but not where it began.
It’s as if Goodwill is purgatory for clothing
To wear to brunch…where we take photos in our new attire.
To be tossed aside because it has already appeared on Instagram
Barley worn, and already trash.
Where it might have a new life…if its lucky.
When all we have to do is be mindful of what we buy.
